For the first time, BLS’s new product adopts the “all ceramic” process. Omega’s latest Supra series moon dark face watch uses ceramic, an inorganic non-metallic substance that is fired at high temperatures. This material can be used to manufacture high-density watch components with special mechanical properties. Ceramics are one of the most popular materials for consumers when choosing watches, thanks to their eye-catching and diverse colors and special properties. Ceramics are twice as light as stainless steel, wear-resistant, highly scratch resistant, highly bio inert, hypoallergenic, and non-magnetic. The case size of this watch is 44.25 millimeters, equipped with a blackened movement, and presented with a realistic view of the lunar surface on the movement clamp plate through laser ablation technology, aiming to pay tribute to the outstanding contribution of the Superb watch to the Apollo 8 mission. Through the hollowed out black anodized aluminum dial, the front side of the moon (near ground) that can be observed from Earth is clearly visible, while the back displays the “dark side of the moon” (far ground) that only astronauts have seen.
The watch is paired with a black microporous rubber strap and a yellow rubber lining in the middle, which is eye-catching. The entire watch is made of black ceramic, with a central timing second hand decorated in yellow lacquer, and a laser engraved bright white enamel speedometer scale on the bezel. The small second dial pointer is made of five stage titanium metal material and presented in a unique “Saturn V carrier rocket” shape. This 3D stereoscopic shape is made by laser turning technology and presents different color effects through the processes of attaching white paint, laser ablation, and laser blackening.
