In 2023, IWC will launch a new generation of Ingenieur engineer watches in Watches&Wonders Geneva, designed by Gerhard Zunda, returning to the classic work Ref. 1832 designed by G é rald Genta in the 1970s.
The 40mm case combines vertical wire drawing, circular wire drawing, and mirror polishing processes, carefully reconstructing the lines to present a softer and smoother contour. The thickness is 10.7mm.
The bezel is tightly fixed with 5 screws, and the details of the lugs and H-shaped bracelet adopt a new design that is more ergonomic, allowing for a more comfortable fit on the wrist.
The most special feature of the new work is that the dial reproduces the “grid” decoration used in the original Ingenieur SL. During production, it requires stamping a concave carving pattern on the iron dial base and then galvanizing it. This pattern is composed of thin lines that are perpendicular to each other, imprinted on a soft iron blank, and then treated with electroplating technology. The pattern covers the entire internal area of the dial, while the external area surrounding the minute scale remains smooth. The proportion of the IWC logo and its position on the dial have been carefully adjusted to ensure a tight alignment with the “grid” pattern. The dial adopts a large three pointer layout, and the hour and second hands also return to the shape of the 1970s. The 3 o’clock is the calendar window, and the 6 o’clock is the “INGENIEUR” logo.
The brand new original quick release and quick installation steel strip is molded, and the side of the watch strap (at the corner of the watch section) is polished with CNC technology, making each watch section neat and smooth. All structures are synchronized with the original, and their materials, workmanship, and wearing experience are 100% synchronized with the original.
The Seagull 2892 movement has been changed to the original 35111 automatic hammer, which is stable and durable, with the same exterior details as the Swiss version.
